Global industrial engineering company Thyssenkrupp appointed FSC to refurbish the staff canteen at its Barnsley facility as part of a wider staff amenity improvement programme.

The project aimed to replace the existing food preparation area with a more modern and hygienic environment that would improve the overall dining experience for employees. The wider programme of works also included the refurbishment of staff toilet facilities.

Following the removal of the existing facilities, FSC delivered a complete canteen refurbishment, including:

• Interior decoration, with walls finished in the client’s blue and white branding colours
• Suspended ceiling installation, creating a clean and modern finish with integrated lighting
• Vinyl flooring installation, providing a durable, non-slip and easy-to-clean surface
• Capped and coved flooring details, improving hygiene and simplifying cleaning

• Kitchenette installation, including base units, cupboards and work surfaces
• Mechanical services installation, including plumbing works, dishwasher installation and a hot water dispenser
• Furniture supply and installation, including tables and seating, to create a comfortable staff dining area

The result was an efficient and functional canteen space.
