Leading UK poultry producer Bernard Matthews partnered with FSC to upgrade staff welfare facilities at their Sunderland site through a comprehensive toilet refurbishment project.
The objective was to replace the existing restroom facilities with a more modern, hygienic and easy-to-maintain environment for employees. This involved removing outdated fixtures and installing new flooring, sanitaryware and interior finishes designed for long-term commercial use.

The Client’s Challenge
Bernard Matthews required upgraded staff restroom facilities that would improve hygiene standards while creating a more contemporary and comfortable environment for employees.
Key objectives included:
- Removing the existing restroom facilities
- Installing durable and hygienic wall and floor finishes
- Upgrading the drainage system
- Delivering modern sanitaryware and cubicles
- Creating an easy-to-clean environment suitable for daily use
The finished washroom needed to combine durability, hygiene and a modern appearance appropriate for a busy food manufacturing facility.
Our Solution
After stripping out the existing facilities, FSC completed a full refurbishment including:
- Ceramic wall tiling installation, featuring white tiles with a green feature band around the room
- Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring installation, using stone-effect tiles for durability and easy maintenance
- Floor drainage upgrades, improving water management and hygiene
- Suspended ceiling installation with integrated lighting
- Electrical works, supporting the new lighting and washroom layout
- Installation of new toilets, cubicles and wash basins
- Full plumbing installation, carried out by the FSC Mechanical Services Division
The result was a modern and hygienic staff amenity.
