CANTEEN INSTALLATION IN SUNDERLAND PROJECT OVERVIEW

As part of an extensive staff facility improvement programme, poultry producer Bernard Matthews appointed FSC to deliver a new staff canteen installation at their Sunderland facility.

The project formed part of a wider internal refurbishment which also included the development of new offices, toilet facilities, an HR meeting room and a multi-faith prayer room.

FSC configured the available space and delivered a modern canteen environment designed to improve staff welfare and provide a comfortable place for employees to eat and relax.

The Client’s Challenge

Bernard Matthews required a new canteen environment that would support their staff welfare objectives and provide a comfortable break area for employees working within the facility.

The project required:

• A modern staff dining environment
• Durable and easy-to-clean surfaces suitable for food areas
• A comfortable seating area for employees
• Integration with the wider internal refurbishment works
• Installation of appliances and furniture ready for daily use

The space needed to be functional, hygienic and welcoming while fitting within the existing building layout.

Our Solution

Following the agreed design, FSC delivered a complete staff canteen installation, including:

• Wall preparation and decoration, including replastering and painting in the client’s chosen colour scheme
• Suspended ceiling installation with integrated lighting to create a clean, modern interior finish
• LVT flooring installation by the FSC Flooring Division, providing a durable, non-slip and easy-to-clean surface suitable for food environments
• Carpet tile installation within the seating area to create a more comfortable and relaxed dining environment

• Bespoke joinery, including custom-built housing for appliances and integrated lighting features
• Furniture supply and installation, selected in collaboration with the client to provide a functional and comfortable seating layout
• Appliance installation, including vending machines, refrigerators, microwaves and a television

The result was a compliant, efficient and modern canteen environment.
