SOMERCOTES ACADEMY CRICKET PITCH INSTALLATION PROJECT OVERVIEW

As part of an upgrade to its sports facilities, the client, Somercotes Academy in Lincolnshire required a replacement for its existing cricket green. The brief was to install a new cricket green at County Cricket level specifications.

WHAT WE DID

We dug out the previously existing artificial cricket green. Following it’s removal, we delivered the following:

We installed a new, state-of-the-art artificial cricket green. This particular woven surface offers realistic play with significantly lower maintenance costs than a natural grass wicket. We also installed a compact underlay to ensure the same bounce as a natural pitch.

We carefully added the correct crease markings inline with county cricket regulations.

Finally, we reinstalled the previously dug-up turn and spread additional grass seed to help promote the rejuvenation of areas surrounding the new installation.

PROJECT BENEFITS

As a result of the new installation, the students of Somercotes Academy benefit from a superior sporting facility of the same standard as county cricket pitches. Moreover, this installation provides a lower maintenance solution to natural wickets.
