DAMIKA  PROJECT OVERVIEW

Premium bacon producer DAMIKA contracted Food Sector Construction to make large-scale improvements to their Huddersfield factory. In particular, they required increased production capacity and improved efficiency of their loading processes.

To help them meet their operational needs, we delivered a ‘design and build’ project. This term means DAMIKA appointed us to both design and construct the works. This is opposed to a traditional contract where the client chooses consultants to devise the development and a separate contractor to build.

PROJECT BENEFITS

Because of the factory improvements at their Huddersfield site, the company now benefits from:

Increased packing capacity –  DAMIKA’s factory floor space and potential product packing capacity increased by 178 sqm

Faster loading capabilities – The inclusion of a dock leveller decreases loading time by up to 50%

Concrete reinforcement during the initial construction stage.

The addition of a dock leveller allows for a smoother transition of bacon products from the production department to distribution.

Completed erection of steelwork during the construction phase of the factory extension project.
